Learn this beautiful and elegant jewelry technique composed of layering different metals such as copper Nickel silver and brass. Distinctive / unique rings bracelets and necklaces are produced using this oriental process. In this 2 day class we will be making a 1 1/2 inch square fused billet composed of metals of your chousing. This billet can be forged and rolled into jewelry. If time permits several billets may be made. Note: the primary purpose of the class will be to make the billets that can be made into jewelry at a later time. Forging and rolling will be taught as well as soldering as it relates to mokume.
Nickel silver, Copper and Brass sheets are provided.
Note: this class will require lots of hammering so only those with good wrist arm and shoulder mobility should attend. Prerequisite: must have taken a previous jewelry class at F L or other places, or consent of instructor. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE REGISTERED 1 WEEK PRIOR TO THE START OF CLASS.
