Dan Caldwell


You will learn how to take stock high carbon tool steel, using basic power and manual, hammering, forge it into a traditional Viking sword. Emphasis will be placed on traditional materiels and techniques. Prerequisite is to have taken the Knife forging Class in the last year, or consent of instructor. Only students with good balance, wrist/arm and shoulder strength should take this class. Note: If its been over 12 months since you've last forged anything, please take the beginning blacksmith class or arrange for a private lesson.

Supplies: Bring to class a pair of leather work gloves, leather apron (if you have one), safety glasses are a must, comfortable leather work-shoes or boots (no sandals), cotton jeans or long pants (No shorts, sweats, cuffed pants, nylon/polyester anything), note taking materials, water bottle and bag lunch. You will be getting dirty, so dress appropriately. All other supplies and materials will be provided.
