You love sweaters but you don't knit? Borrow a garment style that has traditionally been hand knit and design it using handwoven fabric. On Oct 3 we will discuss a number of sweater styles, sleeve variations, and recommended yarns to choose from. You will weave your fabric at home and bring it to class in Feb. ready to fit your "muslin" sweater, construct your handwoven sweater, and add those innovative finishing details that make it a one-of-a-kind treasure.

Supplies: Handwoven fabric for sweater; warp and weft yarns; "muslin sweater" (sample sweater constructed of commercial fabric similar in weight to woven fabric, or an old sheet); tape measure; scissors; sewing thread; needles; pins; "Seams Great" nylon bias edge finish (opt.); interfacing (opt.); shoulder pads (opt.); 5 safety pins; desired embellishments (buttons, beads, linings, found objects, embroidery floss, etc.); yarns for trim; knitting needles (especially circular and double pointed in size 6 and smaller); crochet hooks; tapestry needle; sewing machine (with extra bobbins, machine needles, tool kit, and instruction book); heavy duty extension cord; tailor’s ham (opt.); sleeve roll (opt.); iron (opt.) and serger (opt.).
