FELTED TEAPOTS: A STUDY IN 3-D FELT

The is an intermediate to advanced class. Skill in wool layout and working with a resist is mandatory. This special Felted Teapot 3 day workshop will focus on creating a beautiful, although non-functional, felted tea pot. You will learn how to make a well fitted stopper/top, a sturdy handle and discuss additional elements including how to make and add feet. Each teapot will be unique. There will be time for discussion on the many possibilities and combinations for creating any teapot or vessel.


Supplies: Participant supplies to bring. I would suggest that you bring some merino or prefelts for your top surface design over the neutral Finnish colors. Scraps of prefelts/wool, wool yarn, small wool neps for surface design Note pad and pencil (you will be taking some notes and doing a few idea sketches) Container for hot water, Felting soap, Ball Brauser or other tool to sprinkle water, Towels, Large sponge, Felting needle, Clothes pins or small clamps, Thin painters plastic, .5 to .7 mil, Disposable razors, Sharp scissors, Curved embroidery scissors, Black Permanent marker, 2 pieces of 2? x 2 mosquito netting,Large needle nose pliers, preferably ones with a spring in the handle. Optional: Beading supplies, embroidery/carpet thread, sewing needles for assorted sizes of heavy thread or floss. Any felting tools you normally use. The Instructor will supply: wool for this workshop and my felting packet of tools and handouts. Finn Wool will be supplied during class.
