EXPERIMENTING WITH ACRYLIC AND PASTEL TO CREATE EXCITING ABSTRACTS

Laverne Bohlin

$387.00
In this fun, process oriented workshop, students learn how to do an acrylic underpainting and then apply soft pastel to create lively abstracts. First we'll do a simple, quick exercise to understand the role composition plays in art and to generate ideas. An acrylic underpainting on paper along with mark making tools will become the base for the addition of colorful pastel pigments to bring the art to completion. Throughout the process, different mark making tools and materials will be explored to add line, texture and movement to the finished piece. The instructor will demonstrate and be available to assist students and answer any questions. No drawing skills are needed, just a willingness to let go of expectations, make a hot mess and enjoy the abstract art making process.
Workshop Outline: 1. Introductions, housekeeping, bathrooms, lunch, etc. 2. Quick review of materials. 3. Learn art composition basics and do a simple exercise to generate ideas. 4.
