Whether working on abstracts, landscape, or florals, cold wax can be a great enhancement to your painting skills. It adds great richness and texture to your work and will help your oils to dry faster. In this information loaded workshop prepare to dive in and work hard. We will learn how to layer paint and use new tools in your painting practice plus have a critique in the afternoon. We will work on 2 pieces, the subject of the second piece will be determined by yourself, so you may will want to bring a couple of reference photos as inspiration.


Supplies: Gamblin Wax Medium small jar of solvent, preferably Gamsol oil paints.

I recommend: red light magenta, ultramarine blue, cyan yellow, medium raw sienna, sap green plus black and white. OR at least Magenta, Cyan, Yellow, plus white and black.

3 cradled painting panels 11x14 primed with gesso, Palette Knives and a couple of old brushes. If you don’t have these I’ll bring extra. I will bring all the other tools necessary. If you have tools you like to use for oil and wax, go ahead and bring them.
