Start your new year at Fine Line! Begin your day by picking your 4 classes. Enjoy a “taste” of each class you choose. All materials and lunch are provided. Perfect for beginners wanting to try something new! Some of the classes we will be offering are:
Handbuilding ceramics - Jay Walsh - Using handbuilding techniques, create a whimsical sculpture using terra cotta clay.
Pamphlet stitched notebook - Carol Kazwick - Using traditional bookbinding techniques, create a pamphlet stitched notebook.
Traditional Watercolor - Gale Trausch - Watercolor paint is a basic and very natural medium for expression as well as a wonderful tool to use to bring detail into a painting. You will learn the varieties of transparent vs. opaque watercolor, making a wash vs. detail along with a bit of exploration in color and composition.
Blacksmithing (Weather permitting) - Dan Caldwell - Create an iron hook (must hand good arm and hand strength. Dress for working in an outdoor barn that is heated minimally)
Macrame' - Lela Leutger - Give macrame a try. This timeless art form is tailored to today's trends. Weather you're creating wall art, sculpture, clothing, jewelry or home decor, macrame' is simply one of the most versatile of the fiber arts.
Woven bookmarks (weaving on the big floor looms) - Robin Schoenburg - Learn how to weave on our large floor looms. You will weave a bookmark that will get cut off of the loom at the end of the day.
Basket weaving - Ellen Phillips - Weave a small basket. Get a taste of basket making.
Metal clay - Kathy Steinbring - Using putty-like metal clay, create a reversible pendant or charm with multiple textures. See a demonstration of torch firing, which transforms the putty-like creation into solid silver. You will need to pick-up your fired and polished creation at a later date.
