In this 2-day, hands on, workshop the focus will be on a 1/2 piece (thighs or waist up) where I demonstrate everything above the thighs. You will learn arms, hands, head, facial features, hair and also how to use body language to support the idea of your sculpture. You will work along as I demonstrate but will need time after the workshop to finish up on your own.
Supplies:-35# stoneware clay with light grog-needle tool-fettling knife or small knife-flexible metal serated rib-Mudtool soft flexible plastic rib tool (red or yellow if possible)-sketchbook, pencil-banding wheel or something similar-your favorite tools you can’t live without
Bio:Like many artists, Linda got a bachelors degree in art and also something more practical i.e. teaching. For the next 34 years she worked as an educator in the Des Moines Schools until she took a workshop given by a narrative sculptor in Santa Fe, New Mexico that reignited her passion for creating objects. She now works full time as an artist creating figurative sculptures from clay. Over the last 4 years Linda has exhibited her sculptures at nationally recognized juried art festivals, galleries, exhibitions and most recently at SOFA Chicago. She has received several awards including best of show, first place in sculpture as well as recognition in national print media.
