Do you enjoy the feel and drape of a silk scarf? Love the look of expressive watercolor in vibrant color? Come learn the art of silk painting using the Serti technique. Day One: Stretcher frame prep, stretching silk on frame. Overview of dyes, color mixing, transferring design to silk, gutta resist technique, direct dye application. Day Two: Finishing; preparing fabric for steam, steaming to heat setting dye. Washing rinsing, pressing. Special Effects: Demonstration of salt technique, alcohol, washes and glazing Students may opt to practice on a second silk (additional fee $7.) to steam at home. Supplies: Students are asked to come prepared with a sketch, picture or design concept for an 8” x 54” scarf. This is not a design class. If you need help with design email Tara before class Tara@tararileyart.com. Please bring a hairdryer, watercolor brushes, ( foam brushes will be provided) spritzer water sprayer.
