PEN AND INK ILLUSTRATION WITH WATERCOLOR

Students will learn the basics of traditional pen and ink drawing using dip pens and India ink on bristol board or hot press watercolor paper. Pen nibs, inks and surfaces will be explored. Techniques to create tonal variation and contrast such as crosshatching and line variation with be emphasized before beginning final project. Discussion on process and idea creation will also be lectured upon. After completing final drawing, methods of adding color including watercolor will be discussed.
