Using monochromatic underpaintings and complementary ones, we will strengthen our values and enhance our color. We will experiment with different color choices for our underpaintings and see how the Old Masters used it to their advantage. Basic colored pencil techniques will be reviewed.
Supplies: Colored pencils (your choice of any professional brand) 48 is a good amount, Prismacolor 941 Light Umber – if you can’t find this then a Faber Castell Polychromo Raw Umber 180, Good Paper (any acid free paper that you like). Some papers that colored pencil artists like are: hot press watercolor paper 140lb, Strathmore Bristol Vellum surface, Stonehenge drawing paper, etc…. Sketchbook, Graphite Pencils for preliminary drawing, Tracing paper (if you like to use it for transferring drawing), Erasers – kneaded and Mars Staedtler white eraser, Pencil sharpener
