AFTER THE WASH: PROCESSING FLEECE FOR A PROJECT

Take the next step from fleece washing to fiber processing and create ideas for a project. Learn how to sort and organize your cleaned fleece and plan for a project. Discover how you can use a drumcarder, handcards, and combs for small samples before committing to a process. Students will spin samples on day one. Day two will begin with evaluating spun samples and then moving onto more fiber processing with equipment. If you have put off processing your fleeces for a while, now is the time to dust it off and turn it into spinnable fluff!


Supplies: Students should bring one clean fleece and spinning equipment (wheel/espinner/spindle) with at least one empty bobbin. Students have the option to bring their own fiber tools (handcards, combs, drumcarder). The classroom will have a variety of fiber preparation tools for demonstration and for student use. Bring a notebook and writing utensil for taking notes.
