In this 6 hour one day outdoor session, gain a basic, essential, professional skill and delight: the ability to communicate easily, clearly and quickly through Urban Sketching. With practical instruction and coaching from the course leader, participants will learn different freehand sketching techniques, one by one, at different outdoor locations: thumbnail sketches, contrast/value, contour, cursory perspective, and rapid sketching. Sketching will focus on interesting outdoor locations in downtown St. Charles; we will meet in the historic downtown and walk to sketching locations. Please dress appropriately.
Supplies: Please bring your sketching supplies, including pencils: 3h, hb, 3b, black Sharpie, pencil sharpener, letter-size sketch pad. We will take a break for lunch. Feel free to bring lunch/ snack or be prepared to eat at a local restaurant.
